Morning on Neft Daşları (Oil Rocks) – an offshore oil city in the Caspian sea built under Stalin in 1949. Its oil wells are still producing oil after more than 60 years of service. Three high-rise buildings accommodate a rotating population of 2500 people and the offshore community has its own bakery, park and museum. I took the photograph below during my short visit July 2011.
